Your stock, outside your walls
The plant total answers neither ownership nor location on its own. Beside May’s 11,000 inside units sit 380 of yours at subcontractors, 120 on trucks between plants, and 640 consignment units you hold but do not own yet.
◆ The states, 31 Mayowned outside, held inside.
| Special stock state | Units |
|---|---|
| Your material at subcontractors | 380 |
| Stock in transit between plants | 120 |
| Owned, outside the walls | 500 |
| Held, not owned | Units |
|---|---|
| Vendor consignment on site | 640 |
The 500 owned units sit outside the overview’s 11,000 because they are outside the plant; the 640 consignment units sit inside the building and off the book until withdrawal. Both belong in the month-end story next to the plant figure. Sample values are illustrative, never client data.
◆ The number that does not existdelivered views do not total this.
MB54 lists consignment by vendor and MBLB lists subcontractor stock, but no delivered view adds your outside units together, values them, and ages them. The subcontractor pile is the classic blind spot: practitioner-reported as the stock nobody counts, at the partner with the least incentive to mention it.
◆ The withdrawal cutoffconsignment bites at month end.
Consignment becomes yours, and payable, at withdrawal. Withdrawals posted late shift liability across the month boundary, so the reconciliation between the consignment report and the vendor’s settlement is a standing month-end task, not an annual surprise.
