The management view of cost — cost centers, profit centers, and internal orders. In S/4HANA, Controlling is merged into the Universal Journal: cost elements are G/L accounts, and CO actuals post straight to ACDOCA, so there is no FI/CO reconciliation to run.

Controlling (CO): SAP's management accounting — cost and profitability by internal responsibility.

Internal order (AUFNR): A short-lived cost collector — a campaign, event, or job.
