Arrived, owed, and not yet billed
The obligation starts at the dock, not in the mailroom. Three May receipts had no bill by close, so 42,300.00 accrues, balanced and reversing, and the close tells the truth about what the company owes.
◆ May, received not yet billedthree receipts, one accrual.
| Receipt, no invoice at close | Accrued |
|---|---|
| FacilityCo, maintenance parts | 18,700.00 |
| SaaSCo, onboarding services | 15,200.00 |
| AirCo, group booking | 8,400.00 |
| Accrued at 31 May | 42,300.00 |
One balanced journal books it: expense debited, the accrual account credited, 42,300.00 each side, reversing on 1 June the way the payroll accrual taught. When the bills arrive they meet the reversal; when one never arrives, an aged row asks why. Sample values are illustrative, never client data.
◆ The pattern has a familyuncleared on one side, unbilled on the other.
This is the SAP catalog’s uncleared receipts and invoices discipline arriving in Workday vocabulary: two documents that should meet, tracked from the moment one exists alone. There the pain is clearing; here it is completeness at close. Same table shape, same aging, same cure.
◆ The owned answerreceipts as a fact, the gap as a query.
Receipts land beside invoice lines on the supplier star, so the unbilled set is an anti-join, the accrual journal generates from it, and every accrued row carries its receipt date for the aging that follows.
