Two facts on borrowed dimensions, again

Receivables is two facts: what you billed and what arrived. This star keeps both on the ledger’s own keys, derives open invoices daily, books credits as negative lines that know their invoice, and mirrors the supplier star line for line.

RuleModel receivables as two facts on the ledger’s own dimensions: invoice lines and receipts, with open invoices derived daily and credits as negative lines with lineage.
Nevergive receivables its own private structures. A customer list or tag map of its own is a reconciliation subscription the ledger never asked for.

Two red facts, five teal dimensions, all but one borrowed from the ledger. Credits are negative lines with lineage; open invoices derive daily.

FactGrainCarries
fct_customer_invoiceone row per invoice lineAmount, customer, account, worktags, invoice and due dates; credits as negative lines with original-invoice keys.
fct_receiptone row per payment receivedAmount, customer, application rows to invoices, received date; the unapplied remainder falls out.

Open invoices derive daily as billed minus applied, which powers the aging, the as-of store, and the roll-forward’s nightly pin from one derivation.

◆ Borrowed dimensions, againthe supplier star’s twin.

dim_account and dim_worktag are the ledger star’s own tables; dim_customer is versioned like every who-dimension here; dim_date carries the three clocks of a receivable. The supplier star is the mirror, and working capital is the two of them read together.

Use case
Problem
Receivables analytics grows private customer lists and mappings, credits live off-ledger, and every month someone reconciles it all back by hand.
What we build
Two facts on the ledger’s own keys: invoices with credits as negative lineage lines, receipts with application rows, open invoices derived daily.
What you get
A receivables model that cannot drift: billing ties, the aging equals the balance, credits explain themselves, and as-of answers from storage.
Want receivables that cannot drift from the books?
We build the two-fact star on the ledger’s own keys.
